6.4.3 Creating the ECDSA Signing Keys

  Creating the ECDSA Signing Keys

Two files are required to sign a SecureDELTA or XtremeDELTA package: the Private and the Public Key files.

The private/public key pair can only be generated by using the GUI on the SecureSIGN page.

If the pair of files is not located in the local folder when the application has started, SecureDELTA App displays the following message: "SecureKey files mismatch. Press "Generate..." to recreate the keys"

After the private/public keys are generated, they can only be removed manually. This is done to prevent accidental overwriting or the key. The reason is that after SecureUPDATE files (SecureDELTA or XtremeDELTA) are signed, they can only be processed (SecureDECODED) only if the Public Key from the exact pair of files used to Sign them is used.

Since SecureUPDATE file headers are encrypted there is no possible reconstruction of the header data without the right Public Key file. SecureUPDATE (SecureDELTA or XtremeDELTA) file(s) already signed get rendered completely unusable.

Please store your Private/Public KEY pairs in a safe dry place!

If you really want to remove them (manually), access the link "Manually Remove key files" link from the SecureSIGN page.
